The Hustle and Bustle
Updated: Jul 5, 2019
When I moved to a big city, I expected the excitement and thrill that you see on tv.
The glamorous parties, star-studded events, and fabulous friends.
Though, my life is no episode of Sex in the City.
Sure, yeah I might strut down the city streets.
Talking in some inner monologue. (a little out loud too)
Yet, I’ve had less of the bustle of city-life and more of the hustle
I’m either at rehearsal acting in a show or stage managing some other small production
Not to mention dealing with customers at the coffee shop
At the end of the day, I barely have enough energy to take off my make-up
Nevertheless, be a social butterfly
Nobody gives instructions on how to juggle work and play.
I mean I never knew I would one day hate the smell of coffee.
But I do.
It just reminds me of
the annoyingly demanding and particular people
Who order things like, “nonfat soy latte with extra foam and a triple shot of espresso.”
So in order to have some resemblance of an actual life, and to not go insane.
The next time my castmates ask me out for a drink.
I will take them up on the offer.
Cause all work and no play makes me a dull girl.
